INDIANA STREET PARK
After months of planning and community meetings, a coalition of Pine Bluff organizations unveiled a design for a community park on the grounds of the former Indiana Street School. The collaboration resulted from a joint use agreement between the Pine Bluff School District, the City of Pine Bluff Department of Parks and Recreation, and What’s Next Pine Bluff.
Throughout the year, students, neighbors, nearby churches, and community leaders have gathered to discuss ideas for the park and priorities for the surrounding neighborhood. A professional architect has turned these ideas into a vision that includes public art projects, community gardens, sports facilities, a walking trail and more.
While some of the larger projects in the vision will be feasible only after additional grants and funding can be secured, initial projects have been complete. The Indiana Street Community Park opened on June 1st, 2016. There is much work to be done on this project. We hope you will join with the hard work of students and community members to turn Indiana Street Park into something everyone in Pine Bluff can take pride in.
